Katie is driven by a love of color, individuality, and the freedom of self-expression, embracing the balance between fun and deep emotional connection in her work. Her artistic ethos is rooted in authenticity, and she believes in the healing power of art. Dance is her meditation, a space where she can break free of fear and connect to the moving spirit within. Whether working in the studio, on a video project, or in collaboration with other artists, Katie’s goal is to create meaningful, soul-feeding work that celebrates hope, joy, and vulnerability.

She is also deeply invested in fostering collaboration and building strong artistic teams, always seeking to create spaces where honesty, creativity, and emotional processes can thrive. In a world that often pushes for perfection, Katie is committed to living authentically and embracing the paradoxes of life, both in her art and her personal journey. Above all, Katie believes that art has the power to heal, inspire, and transform, and she is dedicated to creating work that reflects that mission.

Katie’s deep commitment to the arts extends beyond the studio and stage. A passionate advocate for philanthropy, she directed, choreographed, and performed in her first full-length show, 35: A Celebration of Being Alive, in 2022. The show was a fundraiser for those battling oral, head, and neck cancer—a cause close to her heart as she is a cancer survivor herself. Katie’s work is often infused with personal stories, such as her impactful 2020 video project “VOTE,” which captured her desire to create art with a purpose.

Katie is fascinated by the concept of dichotomy—leaving space for both the light and the dark, and allowing us to feel everything in between. Her work intentionally embraces this contrast, understanding that the beauty of life is found in the balance between joy and pain, strength and vulnerability. She believes that by exploring both sides of our emotional spectrum, we are able to truly connect to the full spectrum of our humanity. Through her choreography, teaching, and video projects, Katie creates space for both light and shadow to coexist, encouraging her audience and students to sit with and experience the complexity of life in all its forms.
